Captain Wentzel gives Leeds a lift ahead of £1m showdown
LEEDS CARNEGIE have been handed a boost ahead of this weekend’s £1m relegation showdown with Worcester after captain Marco Wentzel vowed to stay at Headingley regardless of the result.
The Tykes take on fellow strugglers Worcester in a crunch six-pointer on Sunday, which will go a long way to determining who drops out of the Guinness Premiership.
And Wentzel, who has proved a big hit at Leeds since joining from Leicester last summer, says he will remain there even if they are playing in the Championship next season.
“I signed a two-year contract with Leeds when I moved here because I believed in the things that Andy Key and Neil Back are trying to do here,” he said. “We have a massive game on Sunday against Worcester and hopefully we will have a big crowd behind us. Our fate is in our own hands.”
