Broadgate tycoon to make bid for Battersea power station
GODFREY Bradman, the property tycoon who built the Broadgate Circle in the City in the 1980s, is preparing to make a comeback with a bid for Battersea power station.
Bradman is thought to have teamed up with Derrick Beare, nephew of South African financier Jonathan, and has secured the backing of billionaire Reuben brothers David and Simon.
According to accounts filed at Companies House Bradman and Beare set up a joint venture called London Riverside Development Corporation last month.
The grade II-listed building was put up for sale on the open market earlier this year by Lloyds Banking Group and Ireland’s National Asset Management Agency after its Irish owner, Real Estate Opportunities, failed to find a development partner.
The informal shortlist of bidders also includes Chelsea Football Club, who want to build a new 60,000-seater stadium, and a Malaysian property developer SP Setia.
