Britain’s cheapest burger? It’s not where you might think
Where can you find Britain’s cheapest average high street burger meal? If you answered McDonalds, you’re absolutely wrong.
Bargain-basement burgers
In fact since 2008 the price of McDonald’s Big Mac, the fast food chain’s most popular burger, has jumped by more than 30%, according to research from stockbroker Shore Capital.
Having remained at £2 for almost a decade, the price of a Big Mac has now hit £2.79, with the total cost of a medium meal reaching £4.49
That pegs McDonalds as more expensive than Wetherspoons (£4.39) and in line with Flaming Grill pubs average offering (£4.49).
And the cheapest burger meal… that award goes to Greene King’s Hungry Horse chain of pubs which offer a bargain-basement £4.29 burger meal.
