Worried about Black Monday? You're not the only one. Although you might not be reaching the same conclusion Damian McBride has.
Gordon Brown's former spad has tweeted some urgent advice on the back of this morning's stock market tumbles – and it sounds like he is taking the crash pretty seriously.
If any of his 14,000-plus followers take heed of his first point, we could be heading for another run on the banks.
“Get hard cash in a safe place now,” he urged. “Don't assume banks and cashpoints will be open, or bank cards will work.”
His second suggestion is even more alarming – stockpile water and tinned goods – enough to “live a month indoors” is his recommendation.
And once you've squirrelled away enough supplies, McBride's final piece of advice was to arrange somewhere to meet with “loved ones in case transport and communication gets cut off”.
We've heard of the zombie economy but surely this is taking it too far?
McBride's reasoning? “We were close enough [he doesn't say to what] in 2008 (if the bank bailout hadn't worked) and what's coming is 20-times that scale.”
You heard the man. Time to dust off your apocalypse survival plan…
