BILL OF THE WEEK
IT was off for Britain’s favourite munch – curry – on Wednesday lunchtime for these six American businessmen at Mayfair Indian restaurant Gaylord.
At £1,373.25, the banquet probably wasn’t the cheapest of working lunches, but our diners did start off with the fine stuff, knocking back two bottles of Louis
Roederer Cristal and one of Dom Perignon Rose 1998 champagne before moving on to six bottles of curry-house staple Kingfisher with the food.
And what a feast it was – tandoori king prawns, chicken tikka, butter chicken and lamb rogan josh, along with black lentils and other vegetable dishes. They also indulged in fruit and icecream, Drambuie Cream liqueurs and Remy Martin cognacs before reluctantly ordering in the sobering coffees and getting back to their late afternoon meetings.
