Big time bidder saves his bacon
PORK was well and truly off the menu for the star-studded crowd at Tracy Worcester’s “Pig Pledge” event at No 41 in Mayfair last night. The well-connected campaigner was drumming up support for her charity Pig Business, which is trying to encourage people to boycott meat from animal factories – actor Dominic West, Zac Goldsmith and a gaggle of City figures were there to help.
A very tanned, nay burned, looking Dominic West inadvertently bought a painting by Delli Lycett Green during the auction and when The Capitalist caught up with him, was trying to find ceramics doyenne Emma Bridgewater (who had been bidding also) to take it off his hands. “I’ve got five of her paintings already, I was only trying to get the bids up,” he told me. Meanwhile, Rose Haymen, wife of David Haymen (who owns the rights to the Harry Potter film franchise) was only too happy to pay £12,000 for two weeks in Necker Island. Speaking of Richard Branson, The Capitalist caught up with Per Wimmer, Danish philanthropist and founder of Wimmer Financial – one of the backers of Virgin Galactic. He revealed he is working on a special “space project” with a major celebrity (not Lady Gaga). Suffice to say we’re gaga to find out who…
