Betting: Conte’s men can return Prem title to the King’s Road
There has been more than £500million spent on transfers already this summer, and the upcoming season must be the most open in Premier League history.
Leicester provided a 5,000/1 shock when winning the 2015/16 title, but realistically this year looks to be between the two Manchester clubs and Chelsea.
Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United snapped up Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan over the past few months.
Those three players racked up 57 league goals between them last term. The Red Devils also strengthened at the back, landing Villarreal’s Eric Bailly.
However, with Pogba only signing last week, there’s a worry United’s squad has not had enough time to gel.
Manchester City have also spent freely, with Pep Guardiola putting his mark on the team with a number of signings.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has brought Ilkay Gundogan, Nolito, Leroy Sane and John Stones to the Etihad.
Add that to a team containing Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and Sergio Aguero and you have a force to be reckoned with. But’s it’s last season’s underachievers Chelsea that I fancy at the prices.
They were 7/4 to defend their title last summer and a number of the players who made them such a short price still remain. Antonio Conte has also made key additions.
Michy Batshuayi and N’Golo Kante both became Blues this summer and I think they look the best value at 11/2 with Betway.
Kante will provide the steel Chelsea crave. And if Eden Hazard can return to form he’ll be the equivalent of a new signing.
Despite backing Chelsea, I do feel United will be challenging come the business end of the season and that will be thanks to Ibrahimovic’s goals.
The Swede has been prolific wherever he’s played and there looks to be little downside in buying his total Premier League goals at 14.5 with Sporting Index.
Ibra scored 50 in all tournaments last season and will be disappointed if he can’t net at least 20.
