BAE Systems extends tank repair contract
BAE Systems yesterday signed a $91m (£57.8m) contract with the US Army to upgrade 552 of its Bradley combat vehicles.
The British defence giant has already done almost $1bn of manufacturing and repair work for the army since 2007 on over 3,300 Bradley tanks, which are used in front-line combat.
“The readiness and sustainment support we provide to and for our customers through the vehicle reset process keeps this highly survivable combat system in the field helping soldiers successfully complete their missions,” said BAE’s vice president of heavy brigade combat, Joe McCarthy.
The upgrade work will take place at BAE’s facilities in Pennsylvania and Texas, and will run until October 2011, the company said yesterday.
Shares in BAE closed down 1.17 per cent at 354.2p.
