All Nippon makes its biggest order with Boeing and Airbus
ALL NIPPON Airways has placed an order for planes worth more than $16bn (£9.6bn) at list prices, split between Boeing and Airbus.
The Japanese carrier, whose fleet is currently dominated by Boeing planes, has lined up 30 Airbus A320 Neos alongside 40 Boeing models. The order is the biggest in ANA’s history.
“Of course we looked at performance and quality, but we also looked at the economics and when the aircraft would be available,” ANA Holdings president Shinichiro Ito told a news conference.
Airbus Japan’s president Stephane Ginoux said: “We are extremely happy to give a new start to our already prosperous relationship with ANA and are delighted to welcome them as our first Neo customer in Japan.”
Rolls Royce is supplying $1.1bn-worth of engineers for the 25 Boeing Dreamliners that form part of the order.
