African Barrick appoints industry veteran as chief executive
Mining firm African Barrick Gold has announced the appointment of Bradley Gordon as chief executive. Gordon will replace Greg Hawkins, who has resigned to pursue other opportunities.
Gordon has 30 years’ experience in the mining industry, joingin from his position as chief executive of precious metals exploration and development company Intrepid Mines.
Chairman of the board at African Barrick Kelvin Dushnisky said he was "pleased" with the appointment:
The Board is confident that Brad's experience and track record in generating shareholder value, combined with his strong appreciation of community and employees, make him the right person to lead the Company at this pivotal time. The Board would like to thank Greg for his significant contributions to the Company's early development and we wish him well in his future endeavours.
Gordon said he was "excited" to join at a "critical time for the company and to put it on a path of future profitability and stability".
