Aerospace giants set to check in at Farnborough
AEROSPACE firms will gather in Farnborough today to launch the industry’s largest trade show.
Boeing kick-started the show yesterday with the highly anticipated arrival of its Dreamliner jet.
The 787 carrier, which has suffered from crippling production delays, landed after a nine-hour flight from Seattle to an awaiting crowd just outside of London.
Boeing’s Dreamliner has become popular amongst airlines, with orders from British Airways and Thompson Airways already in the pipeline.
While Boeing’s eco-friendly aircraft is likely to be the centrepiece of the week long show, rival Airbus is hoping to book more than 100 orders for its A380 jet.
Likewise, defence giants such as, BAE Systems, EADS and Northrup Grumman will exhibit the latest in military airplanes, intelligence vehicles and fighter jets.
Hybrid Air Vehicles, which recently partnered with Northrup Grumman, is also hoping to sign-up a raft of buyers for its “SkyCat” airship, which is capable of hovering at 20,000 feet for more than three weeks at a time over battlefields.
