Ade and Gallas will stay with Gunners, says boss Wenger
ARSENE WENGER says he does not expect either Emmanuel Adebayor or William Gallas to leave Arsenal this summer.
Adebayor has been linked with a move to AC Milan and Manchester City, while reports in Italy suggest Gallas is a target of Inter Milan.
But boss Wenger insists there has been no contact for either player, but did admit a passing interest in Bordeaux’s highly-rated front man Marouane Chamakh. “Inter have not inquired about Gallas, just like Bordeaux has never asked for Mikael Silvestre,” Wenger said. Quizzed further, he then added: “Adebayor? In my opinion he will remain. Chamakh? He might be a valid acquisition in case of a departure.”
Wenger has also tied down teenage midfielder Jack Wilshere to a new long-term deal with the Gunners.
The 17-year-old broke into first-team contention with impressive Carling Cup displays last season, and follows Aaron Ramsay in commiting himself to the club. “At just 17, the potential is huge for Jack and we are all delighted he has committed his long-term future to Arsenal,” Wenger added.
