Flybe adds 12 Finnair routes
Budget airline Flybe today finalised a deal to operate twelve short haul routes in the Nordic and Baltic regions for struggling Finnish carrier Finnair.
The plan, announced in May, will see Flybe take over a third of Finnair’s European routes as of 28 October, operating hundred-capacity Embraer E190 aircraft on its behalf.
The aircraft will carry Finnair branding, but will fly under Flybe Finland’s certificate and will be crewed by Flybe Finland personnel.
Flybe Finland will now run a total of 28 aircraft, a two-fold increase since it began operations in August last year, with 21 of these flying under contract for Finnair.
In August, Flybe downgraded its revenue growth forecasts for 2012 to between zero and two per cent on below expected sales, and yesterday the company confirmed that it was on track to meet this revised forecast.
Flybe will announce interim results on 8 November.
