Hargreaves Lansdown’s first employee exits after 30 years
THE FIRST employee of investment group Hargreaves Lansdown is leaving the company after more than three decades.
May Theresa Barry joined the firm in 1982 as its first full-time member of staff and rose to become group marketing director.
Hargreaves boss Ian Gorham said Barry “has been fundamental to its growth and success over the years alongside Peter Hargreaves and Stephen Lansdown”.
“After recent family illnesses, Theresa has decided her duty to family dictates she must step aside. We thank Theresa for her amazing contribution, wish her well for the future and are delighted that Theresa remains a great friend and shareholder of Hargreaves Lansdown,” he added.
Hargreaves Lansdown was founded in Bristol in 1981 to give clients advice on tax planning and unit trusts.
The firm now has £39.3bn in assets under management and was one of the most high-profile brokers on the Royal Mail float last week.
