RSM
RSM has appointed Bart Somerville as a corporate finance director focusing on business and asset valuations based in the London office. Bart joins RSM from BDO where he was a director in the valuation team. Prior to that Bart worked at Deloitte UK for five years and PwC in Toronto for seven years. He’s provided independent valuation advice across a variety of sectors and brings over 13 years of experience to the growing team in London. In his new role, Bart will work with Simon Martin, a partner in RSM’s project finance, modelling and valuations practice, to help develop and expand the business and share valuation offering – leveraging off the firm’s international network, and in particular opportunities with RSM US. He also has responsibility to develop new market opportunities and enhance RSM’s ability to deliver complex business, share and intangible asset valuations in a commercial, dispute, tax, and financial reporting capacity.
MHA
London-based property developer MHA has hired a former partner at auction giant and general practice firm Allsop as acquisitions director to strengthen its fast-growing team. Chris Wilson, who has 18 years experience in development consultancy, land agency and PRS, will lead on acquisition, deal structuring and asset management strategy for MHA. Chris has spent the last decade at the UK’s largest auction house Allsop – his last role as head of residential development. His main responsibility now will be to steer the direction and calibre of MHA’s portfolio, which has diverse projects across London and the UK. MHA, which has headquarters in London’s Bloomsbury Square, has grown from a team of just three to 11 with expertise in both residential and commercial development.
Allen & Overy
Allen & Overy has appointed Mark Heaney and David Stone to the international IP practice. Both join from Simmons & Simmons. Mark has a particular focus on patents and patent litigation in the hi-tech sector. He has been involved in high profile cases relating to telecommunications, electronics and software, making him a strong strategic fit for both the IP practice and the TMT sector group. David specialises in trade marks and registered/unregistered designs. He has a strong track-record of working with clients in a diverse range of industries including life sciences, TMT, entertainment and the arts. David brings the benefit of his profile and also his experience running an international brands practice – an essential part of any full service IP practice.
Science in Sport
Sports nutrition brand Science in Sport has appointed Tim Wright as non-executive director. Tim spent much of his career with GlaxoSmithKline, working in the consumer healthcare sector of the company from 1982 to 2011. Over the course of his time at GSK, Tim was located in Toronto, Paris and New Jersey, in various general management roles. Most notably in his last five years at GSK, when Tim was president of GSK's Global Brands, he drove market leading revenue growth through world class marketing and innovation. After leaving GSK in 2011, he was appointed president to Zarbee's Naturals, a privately owned natural medicine business.
