Christmas shopping: Argos opens new fulfilment centres in Reading and Birmingham in time for Christmas rush
Argos has opened two new regional fulfilment centres, boosting its online capacity ahead of the hectic Christmas shopping season.
The centres in Birmingham and Reading will add 200,000 square feet of space for products offered on Argos’ next-day and same-day delivery services.

The new warehouses create 100 new jobs each, and Argos will hire 400 seasonal workers at each site to help with the festive orders.
John Rogers, Argos’ chief executive, said the company sees double-digit sales growth, and higher footfall, when the retailer fulfils sales at a Sainsbury’s in store collection point through a regional fulfilment centre.
“We are confident this will have a significant, positive commercial impact as well as delighting our customers,” Rogers said.

Argos’ fast track delivery service, which is available on around 35,000 products, will now be available to 6m extra households. There are now more than 200 collection points in Sainsbury’s supermarkets, where shoppers can pick up Argos products.
He said: “Our Reading and Birmingham sites increase our fast track capacity across the UK significantly, which means we can get more products to more customers more quickly.
“This is great timing for customers with Black Friday and Christmas just around the corner.”
