Transport for London (TfL) has mapped out 25 prime spots across London for where more cycling routes should be
Cyclists of the capital, rejoice.
For London’s new walking and cycling commissioner has announced the 25 corridors across London with the greatest scope for cycling, pinpointed to assess where investment should be ploughed most effectively.
Will Norman, who was appointed to the position by London mayor Sadiq Khan back in December, has unveiled data analysis used by Transport for London (TfL) to identify where the next batch of cycling provision could make the biggest difference in the capital. The 25 potential connections have been flagged after assessing growth forecasts and population growth as well as existing demand.

TfL will now work with London boroughs to carry out feasibility studies in the areas and develop cycling schemes to deliver a long-term cycle network for the capital, as part of the mayor’s upcoming transport strategy.
More than half a million kilometres are ridden by cyclists on a typical day in London, a rise of seven per cent in three years.
Will Norman, London’s Walking and Cycling Commissioner, said:
We’re committed to improving cycling provision right across the capital as we work to make physical activity a bigger part of Londoners’ everyday lives. And while we are working hard to build new cycle superhighways and quietways now, it’s also important that we look ahead to expand the cycling network and create the next generation of routes.
That’s why we’ve using this ground-breaking analysis to identify the areas of greatest potential for cycling, and why we’ll be working closely with the boroughs to deliver schemes that help continue this spectacular growth in cycling for many years to come.
