Wyles targets end to Sarries’ Euro suffering
SARACENS full-back Chris Wyles hopes European heartache suffered in the past two seasons will inspire his side to win tomorrow’s Heineken Cup semi-final with Clermont Auvergne.
Defeat to the same opposition in the 2012 quarter-finals was followed by a 24-12 loss to Toulon in last year’s semi-final at Twickenham.
Wyles said: “We’ve moved on as a side from two years ago and we know it is going to be a tough game but we’re looking forward to it.
“Clermont are one of the very best teams in Europe but we’re in a good position, we have improved each year and we want to do that again.
“We’re scoring more tries this year but that’s not necessarily because of a change of style, it is just that we are being more clinical, which you need to be.”
Tonight Harlequins travel to Northampton, bidding to reach the final of the Amlin Challenge Cup. London Wasps host Bath in the other semi-final on Sunday.
