“Worst forgery” seen by police was accepted as legal tender
Could this be the worst counterfeit note in British history?
Manchester police certainly seem to believe it is the worst attempt they've seen in the city.
In case the picture doesn't make it clear, the forgery consists of two paper photocopies of a bank note that have been stapled together.
But that's not the worst part: as the tweet below shows, police say it was accepted as legal tender.
Hard to believe that this was accepted as legal currency. Won't name and shame establishment to avoid embarrassment. pic.twitter.com/9QCjTr71pH

City centre police Inspector Phil Spurgeon told the Manchester Evening News: “This is probably the worst forgery we have ever seen.”
It was so bad, he added: “We want to make clear that we are not trying to embarrass anyone for accepting this as legal tender.
“It is just a reminder that businesses must be vigilant and watch out for forgeries.”
