Sales of wireless headphones at John Lewis have soared after Apple's recent unveiling of its wireless Airpod headphones.
Wireless headphone sales were up 60 per cent week-on-week, John Lewis said, as "tech savvy customers are ready for a change" on the announcement that the next iPhone will not have a headphone jack.
Katrina Mills, buyer for audio and smart home at John Lewis, said: "Last night’s announcement will drive the biggest sales in wireless headphones yet. Ahead of the news we had already seen an increased demand for wireless headphones, with noise cancelling functionality and sport models proving popular."
Now, 58 per cent of John Lewis' headphone sales are wireless, as compared to 21 per cent last year.
Bose headphones are particularly popular, with sales up by 260 per cent year-on-year.
Apple launched its new iPhone, the iPhone 7, last night, which comes in black. It's larger than its predecessor and has a camera – and the Home button is now completely touch sensitive. The device is water resistant – and dust resistant (whatever that means).
Apple boss Tim Cook said it was "the best iPhone we've ever created", and boasted that the company has now sold one billion iPhones, marking a major milestone for the brand.
