Who’s lining up in the CEO sack race? Ladbrokes’ odds on Standard Chartered’s Peter Sands
There were a lot of interesting moves at the top in 2014, with chiefs taking P45s left right and centre – Harriet Green at Thomas Cook, Simon Calder at Mothercare and Tesco’s Philip Clarke to name but a few. But who will be saying sayonara in 2015?
Well, sadly we don’t have a crystal ball here at City A.M. but we do have Ladbrokes’ odds for their so-called CEO Sack Race.
The bookies have Standard Chartered’s Peter Sands as most likely to leave this year (of his own accord or otherwise) at 4/6. This isn’t a huge surprise as the avid Arsenal fan has been on the leavers’ watch list throughout 2014.
Following not too far behind with even odds are both Dalton Philips at Morrisons and Marc Bolland at M&S. Also lingering in the “maybe” zone are Dave Lewis at Tesco and Pascal Soriot at Astrazeneca, with matching odds of 2/1 to go.
Only time will tell of course, but the bosses with the longest given odds of seeing in 2016 at their various helms are Ian King at BAE with 10/1 and BT’s Gavin Patterson and EasyJet’s Carolyn McCall with 6/1.
Let the race, or the betting, commence…
