Wenger forced to seek cover after Gibbs setback

ARSENAL manager Arsene Wenger admits he may be forced to dip into the emergency loan market after a setback suffered by Kieran Gibbs deepened his full-back crisis.
Wenger had predicted England international Gibbs, who has been out of action since the middle of October with a stomach muscle injury, would make his comeback against Aston Villa tonight.
But the 22-year-old has required further medical attention and, with Carl Jenkinson, Andre Santos and Bacary Sagna out until the new year, Wenger will consider bolstering his full-back ranks in January.
“Gibbs sees a specialist again [yesterday] and if something happens there that he has had a real setback then possibly, yes [we could go into the market],” said Wenger, talking to Arsenal Media. “We are starting to look at players if Gibbs is not back. But we have good news on Sagna who started to run again this week.”
