Wembley capacity the difference in Froch-Groves venue shootout
WEMBLEY Stadium was the only suitable venue for the eagerly anticipated rematch between Carl Froch and George Groves, insists promoter Eddie Hearn.
The all-English super-middleweight clash is set for May 31 and Hearn believes it will be “the biggest fight in British boxing history”. An initial 60,000 tickets go on sale on Monday, though that capacity can be increased should there be sufficient demand.
Hearn said: “We were talking with the City Ground, the Millennium Stadium, Old Trafford and the Emirates, all fantastic stadiums, but Wembley is the one.
“Is it the biggest fight in British boxing history? I believe so.”
