Walmart to hire veterans
WALMART, the largest private employer in the US and the world’s largest retailer, said yesterday it plans to hire 100,000 newly discharged veterans over the next five years, at a time when the US unemployment rate is at 7.8 per cent. It will buy an additional $50bn (£31bn) in US-made goods over the next decade in areas like sporting goods in what it called a bid to help boost the US economy.
