Wall St slips on strong dollar – New York Report
A STRONG dollar sent US stocks slightly lower yesterday, reversing course late in the session as optimism about deal news disappeared.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 5.43 points, or 0.03 per cent, to 17,875.42, the S&P 500 lost 4.29 points, or 0.21 per cent, to 2,076.33 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 7.08 points, or 0.14 per cent, to 4,910.23.
Shares of FedEx rose 2.7 per cent to $171.16 as it seeks to buy Dutch package delivery company TNT Express for $4.8bn.
Informatica jumped 4.3 per cent to $47.79 after the enterprise software provider said it would be taken private by Permira Advisers and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.
Shares of Twitter jumped four per cent to $52.87, their highest in six months following a Barron’s report that the company had hired advisers to fend off a takeover bid.
