Waitrose hits £5bn sales in record year at grocer
WAITROSE has surpassed £5bn in sales for a year for the first time ever it said yesterday.
Total sales growth for the 12 months starting 1 February 2010 now stands at almost ten per cent.
Waitrose managing director Mark Prices said yesterday: “Five billion is a fitting finale to a year of growth and consistent outperformance of our industry.
“Achieving this milestone is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of the 44,000 partners who work at Waitrose.”
The company passed the landmark on Saturday after seeing a 6.4 per cent year-on-year increase in sales during the previous seven days. Waitrose increased its market share by 0.3 per cent over the last year to 4.4 per cent.
