Vodafone payments come to EU
Vodafone-developed mobile payment service M-Pesa launched in Romania yesterday as part of Vodafone’s plan to bring mobile payments to Europe. M-Pesa is based on text messaging and is widely used in Africa where bank accounts are not widespread. Vodafone Romania’s customers will be able to pay utility bills, make a deposit and withdraw cash from participating agents, and purchase goods such as flowers, a newspaper and a coffee.
