US jobless claims fall by 10,000 in one week
US jobless claims dropped by a seasonally adjusted 10,000 from 326,000 (revised from 323,000) to 316,000 in the week to 22 November.
Analysts had expected claims to rise to 330,000. Continuing claims dropped from 2.876m to 2.776m.
The 4-week moving average was 331,750, a decrease of 7,500 from the previous week's revised average of 339,250.
Looking at the unadjusted data, the largest increases in claims for the week ended 16 November were seen in Florida (+888), Idaho (+573), Mississippi (+534), Minnesota (+155), and North Dakota (+103).
The biggest falls were in California (-4,644), Michigan (-3,342), Pennsylvania (-3,112), Texas (-2,584), and New York (-2,246).
Today's initial claims report was the 5th lowest in the last six years.
