US forces kill Bin Laden
US forces have killed al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden in a helicopter raid on a mansion in Pakistan.
The killing ends a massive manhunt for the mastermind behind the September 11 attacks on New York in 2001.
The Navy Seal special service team was under orders to kill rather than capture Bin Laden, according to Reuters.
“This was a kill operation”, a source said.
The US has warned that revenge attacks may follow the death of Bin Laden who was shot dead in a luxury compound north of the Pakistan capital Islamabad on Monday.
The news was broken to the American people by President Barack Obama in a special address.
Bin Laden was reportedly shot in the head inside a luxury complex and several people in the complex were also killed in a 40 minute exchange of fire.
