US economy loses 95,000 jobs
The US economy lost another 95,000 jobs in September, the fourth in a row that jobs have been lost, according to official figures.
The fall was almost double August’s 54,000 job loss number.
Government payrolls fell and private hiring was less than expected, the Labor Department said.
Meanwhile private employment increased by 64,000, well below August’s pay roll rise of 93,000.
The overall unemployment rate remains at 9.6 per cent.
And revisions to data for July and August showed 15,000 more jobs lost than previously reported.
This employment report is the last before mid-term elections in early November.
