UK’s top bosses more likely to have worked around the world
BRITISH chief executives are more likely to have worked abroad and in several sectors than their international counterparts, but many are still older, male and from financial backgrounds, according to two reports published today.
Just over half of CEOs who took over one of the world’s 2,500 largest listed firms stationed in the UK in 2013 had worked abroad, against just 35 per cent globally, according to Strategy&.
Meanwhile, research from recruitment firm Robert Half indicates that there has been more churn in top positions among FTSE 100 firms. Nearly a fifth of current chief execs have been in their job for less than 12 months, more than double the eight per cent that could say the same in 2012.
The report shows that some things haven’t changed: a majority of CEOs are still male and over 50 years old, and half have backgrounds in accountancy and financial management.
