Uefa remain hopeful over European semi-finals
UEFA bosses are confident Liverpool and Fulham’s Europa League semi-final clashes will go ahead on Thursday night as planned, despite the travel chaos caused by the volcanic ash from Iceland.
All flights in and out of England have been cancelled until further notcie, although Uefa officials claim they have contingency plans in place and say they will review the situation again later today.
Liverpool fly out to Spain to take on Atletico Madrid, while Fulham make to trip to Germany to play Hamburg.
Uefa have, however, confirmed that the Champions League semi-finals will definitely go ahead on Tuesday and Wednesday. Inter Milan host Barcelona on Tuesday, while Bayern Munich play Lyon the following night.
Next weekend’s Japanese MotoGP and the Diving World Series in Sheffield have both been cancelled.
