Treasury must lift flood cash
PRESSURE has been piled on the chancellor to boost spending on flood defences in his budget next month.
The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) has called on the Treasury to return spending to the level it was in 2010, before cuts were made as part of the coalition’s spending review.
Director general of the ICE, Nick Baveystock, said: “This under-spend has been detrimental to communities, business and infrastructure.” He added that the funding cut was “concerning.”
