Treasury Committee prepares to grill influential economists’ panel
THE House of Commons Treasury Committee will next week begin taking evidence for its inquiry into the 2010 Budget.
The influential group of MPs will grill chancellor Alistair Darling, who is set to appear on Tuesday along with chief economic adviser Dave Ramsden. But first on Monday economic experts including the Institute for Fiscal Studies’ director Robert Chote, National Institute of Economic and Social Research’s director Martin Weale, BNP Paribas economist Alan Clarke and Barclays Capital chief UK economist Simon Hayes will appear.
Also set to give evidence on Monday is John Whiting of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and CBI chief economic adviser Ian McCafferty.
