Townsend reveals World Cup hopes
FOOTBALL: Tottenham winger Andros Townsend intends to seize his opportunity to impress England manager Roy Hodgson in the forthcoming friendlies against Chile and Germany in order to boost his chances of selection for next summer’s World Cup squad. Townsend enjoyed a goalscoring debut against Montenegro last month then starred against Poland four days later and hopes to make the same impact this time. He said: “There aren’t too many opportunities to play for England between now and when he [Hodgson] picks the squad, so I have two games where I have to force my way on to the plane and that is what I will look to do whenever I am given the chance.”
