Tour appoints new chairman
FORMER Thresher Group chief executive David Williams has been appointed chairman of golf’s European Tour.
The 56-year-old is the first ever non-professional golfer to take the role and will succeed Neil Coles, who held the post for 38 years, on 1 January.
He said: “I’ll be looking to further increase its [the Tour] expansion and appeal across the globe. To follow in the footsteps of Neil Coles is a tremendous honour.”
Williams has held senior roles at Diageo, PepsiCo Restaurants, Mothercare and Whitbread.
