Toulon legal threat to Tigers fans
FURIOUS Toulon chiefs have warned they may take legal action against Leicester supporters who complained the French club’s full-back Delon Armitage used offensive language towards them at a match.
Former England player Armitage was this week banned until March over the flare-up, which happened after a European Rugby Champions Cup match at the Tigers’ Welford Road home this month.
“We aren’t discounting going after these two supporters in court for false testimonies,” said Toulon president Mourad Boudjellal.
“This is an extraordinary decision which rests only on the allegations of two opposition supporters. There is no formal proof, no document, not even television pictures to attest to the veracity of these testimonies.”
