Tottenham transfers: Juventus targets Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela not for sale, says Mauricio Pochettino
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has told Juventus to forget signing Christian Eriksen or Erik Lamela because it would scupper his ambition of taking the Premier League title to White Hart Lane.
Italian media have credited the Serie A champions with interest in both schemers but Pochettino is more concerned with strengthening his own attacking options before the transfer window shuts on 1 September.
“We keep the best players for the present and future, and to be a good squad which can in the next few years fight for the top four and then one day win the Premier League,” he said.
Pochettino could hand new £12m forward Clinton Njie a debut at Leicester tomorrow but refused to be drawn on Spurs’ pursuit of England Under-21 striker Saido Berahino, after West Brom rejected an £18m bid.
“I’m not going to speak about our private business,” he added. “It is obvious we need to add some more in our offensive positions. We identify our targets and the chairman is working very hard to bring new players in this position, but I am happy with my squad.”
