Torres let-off for scratch is farcical, says Villas-Boas
PERPLEXED Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has slammed the Football Association for failing to inflict a retrospective punishment on Chelsea striker Fernando Torres for his scratch on Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen.
The FA said rules prevented them from penalising Torres, sent off later in Saturday’s 1-1 draw, because the incident had been seen by one of the match officials.
But Villas-Boas, whose team play Anzhi Makhachkala in the Europa League tonight, said: “It is almost a farcical decision. I think the FA has made a decision almost a joke.”
Torres has been ruled out for three weeks with a knee injury.
