Tories regain lead in polls
THE Conservative lead in the polls remains fragile but yesterday’s YouGov survey showed the party regaining a seven point lead over Labour.
The poll put the Conservatives on 39 per cent (up two), Labour on 32 per cent (down three) and the Lib Dems on 17 per cent (no change).
It comes after Cameron’s speech on Sunday at the Conservative Party’s two day spring conference, where he appeared to be relishing his new underdog status.
But the latest ComRes survey for The Independent had the Conservative lead narrowing from seven to just five points in the past month. This would leave Gordon Brown 32 seats short of an overall majority in a hung parliament.
A YouGov poll by the Sunday Times had seen David Cameron’s lead fall to just two points, the lowest it has been for two years.
