Three Lions, four stoppers
JOE HART
MAN CITY
The 25-year-old is one of the first names on England’s team sheet. An exceptionally athletic and confident individual, Hart is widely considered one of the world’s best goalkeepers, is possibly the greatest in the Premier League, and continues to improve his game.
JACK BUTLAND
BIRMINGHAM
Great Britain’s goalkeeper at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Butland has long been considered a future England international but, at 19, is surely still too raw for Roy Hodgson to rely on. It also shouldn’t be overlooked that he’s still a Championship player.
JOHN RUDDY
NORWICH
The former Everton goalkeeper was a surprise inclusion in Roy Hodgson’s Euro 2012 squad and, like Butland, made his debut in England’s 2-1 friendly victory over Italy. Could struggle for recognition if Norwich’s poor form continues.
FRASER FORSTER
CELTIC
The £2m arrival from Newcastle, 24, is the first Scotland-based player to receive an England call up since Alan Thompson in 2004. A highly-rated individual with Champions League experience. Though uncapped, Forster could yet emerge as Hart’s most promising rival.
