Thomas Cook appoints former Sara Lee executive as chairman
A FORMER executive at the US consumer goods group Sara Lee Corporation has been confirmed as the next chairman of troubled travel group Thomas Cook.
Belgian Frank Meysman, 59, will join the board on 1 October and takes over as chairman from Michael Beckett.
He has worked for major companies including Procter & Gamble before joining Sara Lee, where he was executive vice president and a member of the board.
Meysman said: “We will be well positioned to build shareholder value on the back of premium brands and a fine heritage in the UK as well as internationally.” The company is also looking for a chief executive after Manny Fontenla-Novoa resigned.
