How do you make your iPhone battery last longer? New Waldio technology extends smartphone life and makes it up to 20 times faster
Let’s face it, we’re all addicted to our smartphones, and there is there are few things more irritating than seeing your phone’s battery slowly drain away – or worse, having it die on you halfway through the day.
Luckily, there’s a new technology to the rescue, promising to improve both the speed and the battery life of our smartphones.
Researchers at Hanyang University in Korea have developed a technology known as Waldio, which is supposed to improve the mobile phone’s flash memory, as Wongun Lee explains:
The core of the newly-developed technology is to record a small amount of data. This tech will make it possible to use low-priced flash memory for a long time, like expensive flash memory.
Basically, the flash memory is what affects both the speed and battery life, and this inevitably gets worn down when we save and delete data on our devices. Using technology that records only a very small amount of data gives the flash memory longer life.
The researchers found that this extended phones’ battery life by 39 per cent and made them work up to 20 times faster.
Great news, right?
The only bad news is that this technology is still at the research stage, so there’s no sense yet on how long it might take to actually get it installed in our phones. For now, we’ll have to make do with these handy tricks for improving the battery life:
