These are the best-paid chief executives of public companies in the US
Chief executives at media and tech giants are coining it in, accounting for eight out of the top 10 best-paid bosses at US companies.
An annual study of the best-paid chief executives at publicly-listed firms with a market cap of $1bn (£650m) or more put Discovery Communications boss David Zaslav top of the list for 2014, having received $156.1m.
According to Equilar, this makes him the highest paid chief executive since Tim Cook received $376m in 2011.
Michael Fries of Liberty Global and Mario Gabelli of Gamco Investors sit second and third on the list with $111.9m and $88.5m respectively.
Microsoft boss Satya Nadella was next, picking up $84.3m, while GoPro founder Nicholas Woodman pocketed $77.4m.

At 14th on the list Yahoo boss Marissa Mayer was the highest paid woman, taking home $42.1m.
Earnings reached a nine-year peak in 2014, with median pay for the top 200 CEOs climbing 21 per cent to $17.6m
