There are more women working than ever before
The number of women in employment soared to a joint record high according to data released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) today.
"The employment rate for women (68.7 per cent) was the joint highest since comparable records began in 1971, partly due to ongoing changes to the state pension age for women resulting in fewer women retiring between the ages of 60 and 65."
The below chart shows that the number of women in employment tailed off amid the global financial crisis, however it's been steadily climbing since the beginning of 2014.
