the INSIDER
TODAY’S meeting at Doncaster looks highly competitive and a few big reputations could be enhanced or shattered. SETA may be a very good horse and the form of her maiden is extremely strong but I’m not convinced that she is a very short odds-on shot in this field and as such I would be looking to lay her at 4/7 or shorter on the exchanges in the 3.15pm. I really like the look of John Dunlop’s charge Clarietta in the race but there is more value in laying the favourite.
The Flying Childers at 1.35 looks almost impossible. Star Rover, Rose Blossom and Swan Wings are in my black book, but the two that really catch my eye are Misheer and SAND VIXEN. Kieren Fallon clearly loves Misheer, but I think the Group 2 penalty that she is carrying may give the initiative to Sand Vixen, who won a listed race at Newbury last time out beating Above Limits, who came third in a Listed contest at Doncaster on Wednesday. That was against older proven group performers and that form should be good enough today.
Tomorrow the St Leger doesn’t entice me as a betting proposition but the Ladbrokes Portland Handicap is a different matter. I think there should be plenty of pace in the low numbers with stalls 2, 6 and 7 blazing a trail and I’m hoping this will help CHEVETON (e/w) win the money.
