Tesla accused of ignoring female employee’s complaints of ‘nightmarish’ harassment
Tesla has been accused of subjecting female employees to “nightmarish” sexual harassment at its main factory, in a fresh lawsuit.
Jessica Barraza, 38, said she was forced to put up with “near daily” catcalls and inappropriate touching during her three-year stint at the car-maker’s California factory.
The production associate said male employees would make inappropriate comments about her body and touch her without her consent.
A state court in Alameda County was told that another member of staff put his leg between Barraza’s thighs on 28 September and then laughed at her.
The woman said Tesla’s human resources department had not addressed complaints filed in September and October.
What’s more, the firm was accused of disabling its HR email address in the lawsuit, first reported by The Washington Post.
Tesla had not responded to requests for comment at the time of publication.
