Ted Baker defies retail gloom with strong international and web sales
Ted Baker profits rose 24 per cent to £14m in the last half year, as the fashion retailer benefited from international sales.
The brand’s revenue also lifted 17.4 per cent to £182m and web sales rose 49 per cent, to £14m.
UK and European sales soared 15.1 per cent to £104.5m, American and Canadian sales rose 13.8 per cent to $28.9m (£17.9m) and Asian sales lifted 16 per cent to £5.8m.
Chief executive Ray Kelvin said: “Ted Baker has continued to deliver a strong performance across its global markets and distribution channels during the first half of the year.”
But in the same week that Next warned of slow sales after a warm September, Kelvin said: “Our results for the full year will be dependent on the more weighted second half.”
