Sweet tweets as El-Erian waves Pimco goodbye
FORMER Pimco chief executive and co-chief information officer Mohamed El- Erian may have left the world’s largest bond giant behind, but it seems the finance whizz has already found a potentially bigger audience.
El-Erian, who is chief economic advisor at Allianz, joined Twitter only yesterday – and promptly racked up more than 10,000 followers.
Using the handle @elerianm, he tweeted: “Please be patient with me as I get familiar with tchnlgy as am starting virtually from scratch. And pls excuse typos, Thanks.”
And just to confirm he is not just lurking on the site, he added: “Thks v much for yr insights/news. Hopefully I can also contribute to cnvrstn.”
Since announcing his departure from Pimco, there have been stories of a widening rift with the firm’s co-founder Bill Gross.
El-Erian reportedly has a nondisclosure agreement with Pimco, so is unlikely to be tweeting any gossip about his exit.
But for updates on Fed policy or Ukraine’s geo-political crisis, stay tuned.
