Supergroup shares leap on festive sales boost
SUPERGROUP chief executive Julian Dunkerton said improvements made to its product range and a better organized company helped drive a double-digit growth in sales over the third quarter and place it firmly among the Christmas winners.
Shares leapt nearly 10 per cent yesterday as the Superdry owner, which was plagued by a string of setbacks last year, said sales at stores open a year rose 10.6 per cent, in the three months to 27 January, driven by good trading over Christmas, with jackets, knitwear and accessories selling well.
Total group sales jumped 12.3 per cent to £115.1m while revenue across its wholesale operations rose 5.4 per cent to £25.3m. Dunkerton said a 20 per cent jump in spring/summer orders showed demand for its products and confidence in its ranges.
